Nick Jakho is a contemporary artist based in Hamburg, Germany. His practice moves between painting, relief and sculptural object, exploring material, light and perception.
Working with aluminium, canvas, chiffon, acrylic and other materials, Jakho develops surfaces that respond to their surroundings. Reflection, depth, layered colour and subtle irregularities allow the works to change with light, distance and point of view.
Rather than treating an artwork as a fixed image, Jakho is interested in how it exists and changes within a space. Reflective metal, layered near-black surfaces and precisely constructed forms reveal different qualities depending on the surrounding light and the viewer’s position.
His work combines reduction and control with an openness to material behaviour and chance. What appears minimal at first often reveals traces, transitions and variations over time, inviting a slower and more personal way of looking.
